Uttoxeter & District u3a is part of a UK-wide organisation of locally-run interest groups founded in 1982, which provide a wide range of opportunities to come together to learn for fun, of people who enjoy exploring new ideas, skills and activities together. Membership is open to everyone no longer in full-time work.

ABOUT THE u3a
u3a is a UK-wide movement of locally-run interest groups that provide a wide range of opportunities to come together to learn for fun. Members explore new ideas, skills and activities together.

There are 1039 u3as nationally with over 430,000 members; membership is open to everyone who’s not working full-time.

u3a has members who draw upon their knowledge and experience to teach and learn from each other but there are no qualifications to pass – it is just for pleasure, and is all voluntary. Learning is its own reward.

The Aims of the u3a are:

- To encourage and enable people who have retired or are not in full-time employment to help each other, to share their knowledge, skills, interests and experience.
- To make u3as accessible to all eligible people.
- To encourage the establishment of u3as in every part of the country where conditions are suitable and to support and collaborate with them.
