The new Pickleball group officially took off on Monday 13th July 2026. Most of those who attended had never played pickleball before but, being the fun game it is, they soon became hooked and a good laugh was had by everyone. The system of scoring baffled some and the quirky rules can’t help but make you smile. Everyone who comes along and plays will, I’m sure, take the game to heart and play for pleasure regularly in the future.
Pickleball is proving to be very popular and numbers are increasing steadily. In an attempt to counterbalance demand, I have added two additional weekly sessions at Your Padel to hopefully ease the pressure. We now have TWO sessions on a Monday, one from 10-11am and another 11-12noon.
On a Thursday we also have TWO the first starting from 9-10am the second 10-11am.
I ask that interested parties contact me via the u3a website giving me their full name and mobile number. I will then invite them to join the picklers WhatsApp group. From here I send out a weekly poll – one on a Monday for the Thursday sessions and one on a Thursday for the Monday sessions. From this poll I am able to access how many courts to book. This helps me keep costs to a minimum. I also ask that people do not turn up unannounced and expect to play. There are only three courts at Your Padel and we were fully subscribed with having only two sessions running. The addition of these extra sessions, hopefully, will ease the congestion. Having said all that those attending are having a ball, to coin a phrase.
Pickleball is a fun way to keep fit and it doesn’t matter what ability you play at you always end up laughing. Cost works out at £4 per session and padels are available for use for new members. Kind Regards Pat Filler
If you are interested in playing please contact me by clicking on my name, above, with your name phone number and email address and I will add you to the WhatsApp group where I send out a weekly poll to assess attendance to decide the number of courts we need.
