The Garden Maintenance Volunteers are a group of keen but not expert gardeners. We welcome new volunteers to help plan, plant and maintain our two plots at the Heath Community Centre and our award winning walled garden at Wilfred House. You don’t have to be an expert, just enjoy getting your hands dirty! If you love growing vegetables we would welcome your expertise. If you love growing flowers, like we do, come and join us.
June and July have been very busy months as all gardeners will know. The Wilfred House u3a courtyard garden has been inspected twice by RHS judges as part of Uttoxeter in Bloom. The theme for this year was Winnie the Pooh to celebrate his 100th birthday! We
have had fun with the theme. We would like to thank the u3a craft group for decorating stones with Winnie the Pooh characters. Also thank you to our mayor for revarnishing the benches and the Wilfred House staff who are always so supportive.
Of course my biggest thank you is to the gang for their hard work at The Heath Community Garden and Wilfred House - scroll down for photos of both of these! I hope everyone at Uttoxeter u3a have enjoyed the garden?

The Heath Community Centre
For our sins we offered to sort out the very overgrown plot next to ours. I regret not taking a photo of what it looked like before but this is how it looks like now:
Lots of work on the veg and herb plot. Potatoes, French beans, courgettes, tomatoes,
chard., garlic, beetroot, onions and even an aubergine!

At the Uttoxeter Garden in Bloom 2025 presentation evening held at the Town Hall, we were thrilled to find out that following visits from RHS judges in June and July, we had been awarded ‘Level 5 outstanding’ for the Wilfred House u3a walled garden.
