The u3a Soul Collective group has continued to meet on Tuesday morning at Wilfred House, and two weeks later on Thursday afternoon at Bank House Hotel.
The next meeting is on Thursday 1st October at 1.00pm. Thursday sessions are over three hours to give members the maximum opportunity to attend.
The group now has its own record deck, kindly donated by Chris Walsh. At the meeting on Tuesday 15th September, we played some great vinyl discs and shared memories over a cup of tea and biscuits.
A group of members went to the Northern Soul all nighter at the Kings Hall in Stoke on Saturday 19th September. A great night had by everyone.
A group of members are going to Blackpool for a Northern Soul Weekender in November and a trip to the Twisted Wheel club in Manchester is being planned for December.
The After Dark event in November at Wilfred House is being planned as a Soul and Motown night. It is hoped this will be a night run primarily on the music requests of members. Please come along to experience a great night out! Tickets on sale soon...
The Soul Collective has a WhatsApp group where information about group activities, music and local venues can be shared.
New members are welcome to experience the magic of Northern Soul.
As with all u3a groups, a strong social and community element is key, and this is central to the group’s development.
For those interested in exploring events further afield, Soul Source website provides a comprehensive listings guide, with regular events in Uttoxeter, Rugeley, Burton, Derby, the Potteries, Hednesford, Cannock, Stafford, Wolverhampton and beyond.
It is hoped that the group will attend some of these events together.
